I have been just zooming through books the past few months and I have to say this is the best book I have read recently. The story line was intriguing. I like the fact that you know nothing about the characters and that you truly have to continue reading the book to know. It doesn’t dwell on who the characters were before they started noticing all the weird coincidences but focuses on who they are becoming. Each character was very relatable.
I found the story to be a journey within a journey times two. You have new characters coming into the story at different point that throw curve balls in every direction.
The word Ancient civilizations caught my eye and I began the book before I finished reading the back. And boy was I glad I did. I had finished ‘The Mark’ in less than a day and it had left me wanting more. I can’t wait to read more by Marilyn Bunderson in the future.
Downside: I could not stand Eric…I don’t know why but i was hoping that there was going to be a twist and that he would be the cause of some misfortune along the journey.

The Mark MR Bunderson 9781599553511 Books Reviews
First, let me say that I loved the cover. And not because of the design but because it's so freaking soft!! It's like like touching suede. Pretty sweet. I even made my roommates feel my book. It sounds more perverted than it really is. Haha.
I picked this book up after reading some reviews on other blogs and I wanted to see for myself. I thought it was great. Tori discovers she has a mark on her hand and so does this guy named Eric. Things get tricky from there as they try to discover their origin and others who have this mark as well as discovering they aren't alone. Tori's perspective was easy to read.
The way the mystery unraveled kept me glued to the pages. Each new thing was its own mystery to solve. Why were they adopted within months of each other? Where are they from? What do the marks mean? who are the people in these memories? who is sebastian? Who is after them? Question after question, but by the end I felt satisfied with having my questions answered.
You know what I really liked about this book? The characters aren't super generic and each is an individual. The only person I didn't get much of a sense for was Miles but that's because his character comes in play later in the book. I liked Sebastian and Eric the most. Totally different but entertaining to read. I will definitely read a sequel.
The Mark is a wonderful book. It has romance, mystery and a paranormal element. Marilyn paces the book wonderfully and has written very good characters. The premise for the book is very intriguing to me, and I love how the characters have a special connection to one another. They are mysteriously drawn together, having unique characteristics in common. As they uncover more information, they realize that the further they go could lead to an amazing discovery, but what happens when mysterious powers do not want them to know more?
So that is best as I can talk about the plot and what I liked without giving spoilers. I can talk about the characters themselves a bit more. Tori is a good protagonist- she has an active voice, and the writing is descriptive so that I could connect with her and understand what she is going though and feeling.
She has a wonderful best friend Shae, who even though is not directly affected by the mystery surrounding Tori and her other friends, she is accepting and wanting to help. Tori also builds a wonderful friendship with Eric, Amanda, Miles and Sebastian- the ones who share the unique characteristics and are directly involved. These characters all have unique personalities and voices and this is nice to have because sometimes when you get numerous characters they can be hard to distinguish.
The relationship between Tori and Eric is nice. They have the paranormal element that contributes to the fairly quick progression, and they were also questioning it, and I feel like that is a good thing, because real life relationships and characters that I relate to easily have basis in real world even if they are paranormal. Another element that I saw and like that the trend seems to be reversing is that Tori's family was involved in her life. Although they weren't huge characters in the book, Tori's respect and love for them, and their love and protectiveness for her was shown.
A minor complaint is that I don't like it seems like some events were cut out, but there was still build up to them- such as the dance that was mentioned.
The end wraps things up well so that it could stand alone, but I have a feeling that there will be more storyline because there is so much more that could be done.
It was very well written and the storyline was excellent. It tells the story of five young individuals who come together for an amazing journey. Questions are answered, secrets are revealed, and mysteries solved, all while relationships are formed and friendship is tested. One of my favorite things about this book is that even without graphic and sexual details seen most adult books with romance in them, you can get a sense of how deep the relationships are. I hope there is going to be more to this story, I just finished the first book and hope there's a second.
