This is another great story from Catherine Cookson. I have most of her books in hardback but now I am starting the collection all over again on Kindle. What a joy it is !! The Mallen Streak was one of the first in hardback I bought many, many years ago.
I have just purchased the other two editions of the Trilogy on Kindle.
I have never been disappointed with any of CC's books although I have to admit that some of them would rate a very low star, The Mallen Trilogy is top of the list for enjoyment without a doubt .If you enjoy reading Catherine Cookson books you will thoroughly enjoy this Trilogy for sure .

This was a gripping tale of a man who couldn't control his sensual appetites and the result/s which spanned generations to follow. Although the governess, who is the prime character throughout the trilogy, I was sorry that the actual perpetrator of the Mallen Streak was a seemingly weak character. A wonderful read for people who love good descriptions and gripping plots.
As with the first in the series of the Mallen Trilogy, this book also rated high in my opinion. The story continues on from the Mallen streak and it's good that although there is backstory. it doesn't overpower the narrative of the book. I find nothing to dislike in this story by one of my favourite writers. I would recommend it to those who love family drama.
This book was surprisingly good. The narrative was very high paced and the story captivating. It is the first of three in this Catherine Cookson trilogy that centers on the offsprings of the Mallens; known for their cruel and disruptive behavior. Drama and shocking plots are rife in this first book, so be prepared to gasp out loud at times.
I enjoyed the story. I like to read what this author writes and find her stories interesting. In this story she presents a family trait that shows itself in different generations and affects many people. The stories about England in the 1800's show how the people live and how they approach everyday life.
As an avid reader of Catherine Cookson books there is nothing bad to say about any of them. Her books always have many twists and turns; usually a bad character and a lot of drama. This one was no exception and not disappointing. This is my 2nd read on the book by the way, I previously read it in hard cover and now have purchased and re-read it on kindle.
